Today was the highest mileage of the walk ...26 miles.
Woke up at 6.40 , 40 mins late. We got going with porridge and mint tea. I stirred the tea then contaminated the porridge with the spoon which gave it a hint if mint. We had no laying around and got going straight away. We were away for 8 in the dry, it stayed dry all day, fairly still and warm , about 12 ° C.
Again we followed the cycle route 2, on a decent path following the road and golf course where folk were hitting balls at the golf ball picker upper man.
In Camber we passed the delightful Pontins stopping at a shop opposite for choc and drink.
Again the cycle path followed the Lydd road passed flooded gravel lakes full of waterfowl. We felt guity walking passed camo geared bird watchers who were not to pleased at our presence as they all took off. We soon walked into Kent.
I was in envy of a council worker picking up rubbish and probably gaining all the McDonald coffee cup stickers.
The Lydd church tower stood out like the tower in Lord of the Rings....the one with the big eye!
We gained the coast again at St. Marys Bay. I knew we would have problems pitching this evening as the coast to Folkstone is pretty much built up so I went on Latebooking. Com and booked the Grand Burstin Hotel for £23 for a twin room ensuite including breaky . I was not convinced it was true until I got there...it was!
The only prob was it was 2.30 pm and there was 10 miles to still walk. J was complaining of raw bum from sweat and chaff, Sudocrem helped. I had worked out we would get there about 6 in the dark, but as we would be walking in lit streets it was more the endurance thing. J was not so sure and he became abit dower. He had previously complained about sore upper leg muscles. As it was he did ok.
We got to the rather large ,almost 20s, building on Marine Parade and was given a twin room. A few coach parties of retirees graced the foyer. The place was passed it sell by date, rough around the edges but comfortable.
We soon had gear spread out, j almost dazed but his exertions.
Went to nearby ASDA for food returning to relax and blogg.
