Woke at 5.30,dozed to 6.30 having missed alarm . Got tea water on but due to water frozen I only did porridge for J and I had ginger bics.
Very cold morning, -4°C, I was snug having worn my Snugpak but J said he had been chilled a little on waking.
The inside of the tent was damp , and the outer skin was frozen. Packing up was ok, but handling the tent poles made ny finger tips hurt as they warmed later.
It was a beautiful crisp pastel morning, sunrise over the river. Walked into Chertsey on would be muddy path, but now frozen and dry.
In Staines we stopped at a community centre for coffee, I popped into the nearby library to use the internet, cost me £2 as a guest. J had put in phones to charge as he waited.
The route took us passed a Sainsburys so popped in for half price hobnobs, dark choc ones...bliss!
The path took us onto an area where it is thought the Magna Carta was signed and onto Windsor Castle. This is also the flight landing path of Heathrow with a plane dropping by every minute or so. Dominating the day from then to pitch.
After a snap of the castle we crossed into Eton walking on their grounds along to the area where the rowing events of the Olympics were held last year.
We went under the M3, M25 and M4 today.
We walked into Maidenhead around 4.30 stopping for water at Boulters Lock, Ray Mill island.
Walking on we pitched north of the town on the banks of the Thames again. A pole broke again so I quickly fixed it and we got pitched in fading light around 5.
We were both tired and snappy at each other. We had been ready to stop around 3.
I brewed a tea and J cooked tea of chilli mince and cheese pasta .He is asleep now at 9.30.
Heavy snow forecast for tomorrow.
