Could not sleep. It was 2ish when I finally did, fire alarm went off at 4.30 but the guy stopped it quickly, no one yelled fire so I stayed snug.
I dozed until 5 then got up moving washed clothing around on the radiator to max drying.
I packed up my pack and trimmed beard and hair to try to make myself to not look down and out. J had to help with the back. Had shower.
We went for breaky; cereal, coffee, grapefruit, beans and eggs on toast. I was not sure if the cost was included, thankfully it was. It had rained in the morning but on leaving only the ground was wet, gear including boots were dry. It was a good stop, posh for us but worth it.
We had a few chores to do before us walking properly. It included army surplus store for poncho as I worried about possible snow, chinese noodle shop for noodles, and bitumen paint for various other waterproofng needs.
I got most of it done, the Chinese shop lady said it was good to see me again and gave me a calendar ....great ...I must look like alot if folk. We got our noodles but also in the bag was a tin of YumYim coconut coated peanuts..I thought the noodles were expensive. Apparently they are Thailands #1 coconut coated peanut. They tasted of peanut with hardly any flavour of coconut, plain nut without the salt. I could not find a tin of bitumen paint of less than 1 litre so used bitumen gutter sealant . It kind of iced a cake putting it on our boot caps. See what happens.
The capes/ ponchos look good, like my old German army one. Only prob in high wind they flap.
We walked on passed trendy cafes and marinas. Eventually crossing the Liara Bridge and onto Morrisons where we had a brunch breaky and a few other bits. J left tar scuffs on the floor.
The route took us passed marina, grand yachts and wrecks, boat yards. A few paths were closed so we had to divert onto roads, massive granite blocks seemed to be everywhere with an acorn for the National Trails. Maybe it was a buy one get ten free.
At Bovisand Bay a chap with runaway car chasing dog ran passed asking if we were doing the SW Coast Path ...a thumbs up and a cheery Good one as he jogged past in pursuit of dog.
We picked up some water at a PC then walked on for a mile or so to just before Heybrook Bay.
It was still light, and clear sky lengthened the day. As the sun dipped, ships lights and shore shone . We waited for the dog walkers to disappear then pitched.
Stuart had heard we were pitched nearby and came over for a discussion about the ferries or lack of them coming up. I had chatted to a dog walker to confirm there was ferry from Wembury Point to Noss Mayo was not running.
We had noodles for tea then slept from 7.
