Although it had started as a clear night the odd heavy shower woke me.At 7 I got the porridge on then sat on a stone in the little haven watching a calm mesmerising sea. A dipper flitted around on the stones on the stream feeding the sea, it was not happy seeing me. It was fairly cold but I was well wrapped up and cuddled the warm metal porridge bowl with bare hands .Taking down the tent and handling wet poles made me think I would need decent gloves soon.
I was feeling again slightly better and although my appetite was not fully back the feeling of sick was no longer constantly in my head, I just filled up quickly. I knew I had to eat as that was my fuel and I was thin enough as it was!
The first part was a little over 3 miles on muddy path getting to New Quay around 9.45.There was more activity than I expected for a Sunday, and having visited a local shop sat on the same bench over the harbour. There were fewer boats than two weeks earlier, winter was coming. I noticed one was upturned with its hull baring its bottom.
I had a cold drink and ate high calorie bombay mix.
The tide being high meant I could not walk the flat beach, however the path was good and not to strenuous.
Generally the Ceredigion Coast Path is pretty good considering the weather and time of year. Certainly a highlight.
I got to Aberaeron just as the black cloud that had been following me decided to relieve its bladder.I sheltered under the awning eating chips with little enthusiasm in the same chip shop. It was good to have the same great quality chips, shame my appetite was not the same as our last visit. As I watched the rain fall another pot of tea delayed my departure.
I walked to Aberath roughly a mile on, the brambles now past their best. The path went from good to flat wet muddy farmland at Llannon. I was fairly occupied by the radio listening to Sale Sharks v Cardiff Blues rugby match, riveting stuff, Sale winning 34 - 33.
I was pleased to see Red Kites again. I stood watching one fly, drop ,take off and drop again on a reseeded flat farm land. I could only think that it was worms it was feeding on as the ground appeared water logged.
It was not hard work today , I had had plenty of short breaks and at times day dreamed mindlessly, almost sleep walking. The sea was flat ,and with the elevated views I had hoped to see porpoises but the no such luck. Because the path was wide and flatish I could actually look up and look around instead of looking a couple of metres infront of me.
I was covering the same ground but in reverse which gave me a different perspective.
I arrived at Llanrynstud around 5.15, popping into the well stocked shop at the petrol garage mainly to buy soft drinks,I felt more the need to drink than eat!
I walked to the same Pencarreg caravan park, which for a change allowed tents. I should of gone straight to the house instead of the reception but due to dogs barking at me I walked on.In the end I had to return as the reception was shut. I braved the dogs which were more little yappy things, I wish I could say rottweilers.
The same lady appeared at the door trying to charge me £9, I stated she last charged me £5 which she accepted. I walked back and pitched on the wet ground.
As always I was pleased to climb in my snug bag and ate another bag of bombay mix, I did not cook. I was near the loos and as my tum was still unsettled it was a good decision!
I spoke to Mon and J on the phone , looked at a possible alternative to Borth hostel for tuesday and wednesday nights .Then around the 9 slept.
