10th Sept. 2012

Woke up at 6.45.Got going with onlu a cup of tea in us as we planned to cheap breakfast in Chester. There had been a fair few ants about last night but probably our socks had put them off entering the tent. A different story for the slugs which gabe me pleasure at flicking yhem off mugs , bowls and out off boots and tent. This time I was stroppy with J for the lousy job he makes of packing his pack. I emptied it to find three plastic bottles which should at least be easily got to to dispose of them. I showed him how to pack it which delayed our start.

We walked into Chester via the Canal. It had a great feeling to it,  much like Norwich. Old bildings,  a sense of a decent past and promising future.

With all the old buildings to look at I felt awkward asking about where was a McDonalds. We like Mc D because we can usually charge our phones there. We had egg and cheese buns and coffee. Then I ran around getting a few bits and bobs. Again I got irritated with J ,I had asked if he had wanted anything but he moronically stated no ,then having passed numerous charity shops he stated he had wanted some shorts. He walks around not even checking the roads he crosses and he just follows blindly. It is like he is in sleep mode. Walking via Saltney I had not realised we had passed into Wales. When we got to a super market I sent J in to make a decision on biscuits which thankfully he did.
We were heading up the River Dee via an industrial estate, all signs depicting a welsh flag or dragon. I stopped at a new Go Outdoors shop for waterproof bottoms better than the ones J had. We had a few showers but not to bad.
We were advised by a local to take the north bank as it was a cycle path,so we crossed over doing a limbo through weird gates which seem to be there to stop people with broad shoulders or backpacks.
The river was incredibly straight and we could see the Queensferry bridges 6 miles in the distance. It seemed painfully slow and our feet were tired. We watched the new AIRBUS whale come into land at the factory air strip, an impressive sight but weird like watching a alien ship coming in.Amazed it could fly.
We walked over the blue lifting bridge and were now on the Wales coast path.
We stopped for lunch,  a sickly delight of lucozade and choc bics.
Walkng the path was alright until Connahs Quay where we felt threatened in a rather run down area. Steel shuttered windows and closed down pubs, real rough looking. It opened out at a college and as they turned out at about fourish we felt safer.
We were tired but around Flint we were again desparate to stop and find some where. Asking at a farm which seemed to hire cranes we were successful . A kind jolly lady put us in an empty field in time for us to get the tent pitched before a deluge of rain fell. We felt up beat having purchased a Subway sandwich for our tea that evening. It rained heavily through the night and for a change I was asleep before J.
