2nd FEB. BATH YHA to MELKSHAM

What a lousy sleep. We had a duo snoring and some chap who came clattering through the door at 1.30. When I did get to sleep I was awake at 5 because our Russian friend was awake. I lay for  spell then got up defeated.
I went to the kitchen made a tea and had a bowl of cereal then finished my blogging and went over todays route over toward the Ridgeway. I did not expect to get far.
I woke J around 7.15 then we cooked a breaky followed by ice cream left over from last night.
We packed up,  the American still asleep at 10 when we left. One chap was interested in our venture alittle shocked at our foot attire,  wrapped in gaffer tape.  He ended up walking to the American Musuem a couple of miles along the road. I was so busy chatting I missed the turning and luckily he knew where it was. We left him to walk the Skyline then found the museum was closed until march.
We walked on to Claverton then disappointed there was no ferry or route over the Avon we followed the Kennet Avon Canal up to Bathford crossing at the on the bridge. We walked into Bathford , up hill ,stopping at a rare co op shop / cafe,  great shop,  why other communities do not do this I do not know.
Alot if folk seemed interested in our venture , maybe it was the sun which made folk happier and more communicative. We got supplies and I had to go back in to query the sugar costing 4 x the price. Eventually I got a refund from the new computer system. Eating ice creams we walked on via a steep climb to Monton Farleigh and South Wraxatt via un busy lanes.I listened to the Wales v Ireland 6 nations rugby.Wales lost again. Broughton Gifford and the Common came and went.
We entered Melksham and had tea in McDonalds, feel abit of a prat getting Happy meals with a coffee. Biscuits from Asda. Walked on via Melksham at 4.30.
At around 5 20 with a beautiful sunset we asked at Forest Farm,  the Dairy farmer put us in the barn as the fields were waterlogged. We were more than pleased not pitch and were happy sandwiched between bales of big bale hay. Fixed boots and with cheap needles brought at Bathford shop. Should stop sole coming off...I hope!
Chatted to Monique and made a cuppa well away from the hay.
Felt relaxed and warm even though is a chilly clear night.
