Day 2 I will keep this brief because I am shattered. I woke at seven. Due to no matches i had to walk i into SOUTH CAVE to get some. By the time I was on track again it was nine.
The route was easy going again fields of barley, wheat and potatoes. I stopped briefly as a sparrow hawk hassled another, tumbling and skreeching. It may of been a fledgling or a territorial dispute.
The lack of butterflies yesterday was made up for today started - ringlets dominating.
I felt pretty tired and needed to stop a.fair few times. About 2 miles north east of NORTH NEWBALD after a sweaty slog just at the right spot to collapse was a memorial bench to a John Lister- thank you John!
At 3pm I stopped at the GOODMANHAMS ARMS,a lovely traditional pub with a pint of cloudy sedimented cider,I left the last inch.
Reluctantly I continued past the church where a funeral was going on and I removed my sweaty cap. The rest of the walk followed previous barley etc. fields. Via quaint village of Longdesborough, picture card cottages, something out of Miss Marples.
I stumbled on via NUNBURNHOLME. It reminded me of the South Downs which I will experience at next year with the undulating farm based countryside with chalk and flint tracks.
I eventually finished the day at Warrendale Farm who was obviously used to campers as I paid my £3 for the pitch but with eater on tap plus hot I was able to body wash salty sweat off me and then after a a meal of noodles I crashed. I would not wake until 8 am.
